General Objectives of LAMP
Strategy of LAMP
- To conduct research-cum-study on different socio-economic-cultural problems
of the society.
- To take fact-finding action on different burning issues and incidents of
the society and their documentation.
- To create opportunities for upgradation of knowledge and the level of awareness
among the activists regarding legal provisions and Govt. facilities for the
tribals, dalits, indegenous people, Women, OBC, Children etc. and their rights & duties
as human beings.
- To organise reorientation programme for both women and men of the target
communities to change socio-cultural values for attaining the goal of a human
society based on justice.
- To organise training, meeting, seminar and workshop on different Social
issues, problems and its perpetration from time to time.
- To organise training on leadership development and skill development
on survey, planning, monitoring, evaluation and reporting.
- To develop and strengthen grass-root level people's action groups (PAG),
Trade Unions (TU), Cooperatives and other group endeavours for increasing
their bargaining power and struggles and to make group / organisations self
dependent and self-reliant.
- To take action for social education for the people of reference groups
in the form of both formal and non-formal education to expediate the process
of their participation in Social action.
- To organise people for Social action in the forms of protests deputations,
demonstration against injustices, atrocities etc. and availing basic amenities
and opportunities from the State etc. with a view of strengthening people's
struggles for empowerment.
- To create opportunities for developing and strengthening Worker's Action
groups, Street and Working Children Action Groups ,Cooperatives, Network
of Tribals, Dalits and other indigenous people and establishment of a just
Society based on human values.
- To create opportunities for the people to become self-employed which ultimately
with help them to become economically self-reliant.
- To organise Micro Finance and Livelihood Development Programme programme for poor women of
self help groups.
LAMP's action programmes can be classified into the following five
categories :
i) Social Education, ii) Social Action, iii) Social Reform, iv) Social Development,
v) Social Welfare
i. Social Education :
- Organising of Non-formal education Centres for the street and working children
and school drop-outs.
- Organising pre-primary education for the children of the target communities.
- Conducting functional literacy classes and adult education centres for
both men and Women illiterates.
- Providing legal education and family counseling services.
- Organising trainings on health and environment awareness.
- Organising advocacy to create general awareness among the people for basic
understanding of the problems.
ii. Social Action :
- Involving people for mobilisation, organization, formation and strengthening
of people's / Women's/Children's action groups.
- Giving impetus for leadership development and issue based action for legal
rights, justice and peace.
- Mobilising the oppressed to protest against social injustice and atrocities
inflicted by the oppressors.
- Encouraging people to demand their rights for availing of basic amenities
and opportunities from the state or local Government administration.
iii. Social Reform :
- Organising people for mass campaign to abolish superstition, witchcraft
practices, cultural exploitations and atrocities over the under-priviledged
poor, dalits and tribals.
- Sensitizing people regarding the problems of the Women in this unjust society
and boosting their struggles for gender justice and restoration of women's
equal status in the society.
- Providing necessary training and exposure for both awareness generation
and skill development to the Women and street and working children for the
purpose of their empowerment and sustainable development.
iv. Social Development :
- Housing people to improve their social status and also to become economically
self-reliant; they are being motivated to develop the habit of savings.
- Motivation of people to generate their own community fund with a primary
objective of developing the basic community infrastructure.
- Organising necessary trainings alongwith extension support services for
the development of human resources and their proper utilisation.
- Providing the opportunities before the people especially poor women and
street and working children for development of their collective action, cohesiveness
and fellow-feelings with a view to develop their community as a whole.
- Helping poor section of women to become self-reliant.
v. Social Welfare :
- Undertaking different activities for the development of Women and street
and working Children.
- Taking necessary actions for the comprehensive development and rehabilitation
of Street and distressed Working Children of the urban areas.
- Organising vocational trainings for the people of both urban and rural
areas for the purpose of their income generation and self- employment.
- Taking action for both advocacy and rehabilitation of leprosy patients.
- Organising advocacy for environment conservation and eco-development.
- Providing marketing services and taking all possible actions for the promotion
of a marketing network.
- Providing necessary expertise-cum-support services to the small groups
and NGO's with a primary objective of empowerment of People's / Women's/Children's
action groups.
